Rich Duncan and Dick Withnell, two members of the panel that spoke to MVDP last December about corporate philanthropy, have been honored for their community service.
Duncan, owner of Rich Duncan Construction, last month accepted his firm’s award as Business of the Year from the Salem Area Chamber of Commerce. The Statesman Journal featured the award in this Sept. 20 article.
Withnell, whose firm was the chamber’s Employer of the Year, this week won the 2011 Al and Pat Reser Civic Leadership Award at the Governor’s Gold Awards presented in Portland earlier this week. The story and more photos are on the SJ’s Web site here.
Speaking also at the December meeting were: Steve Horning, vice president and area manager of Bank of the Cascades; Bruce Anderson, community relations manager of NW Natural; and Dennis Bash, regional marketing manager of U.S. Bank.
Also at the December meeting Cynthia Thompson, director of development and marketing at the Macdonald Center in Portland, addressed issues around corporate giving (see the PowerPoint slides here) and offered 20 tips on securing corporate partners.
