Making an impact with major gifts

Tom Wilson, author of one of America’s top fundraising books, will offer the first in a two-part presentation on major gifts at the Dec. 8 meeting at the Willamette Heritage Center at the Mill.

Wilson’s presentation will highlight MVDP’s annual meeting, which includes holiday refreshments and election of board members. The Mill is at 1313 Mill St. SE, Salem. The program begins at 3 p.m. Season-pass holders have already paid. Others who register and pay in advance will be charged $25. The fee at the door is $35.

Wilson’s book Winning Gifts: Make Your Donors Feel Like Winners is among 12 books that nonprofit leaders recently named as books that have changed their lives. Copies of the book will be among the takeaways when Wilson returns to give part two of his major gifts presentation in February 2012.

Wilson is a consultant with Campbell & Co. He has more than 25 years of experience in fundraising and consulting. He provides guidance to fundraising staffs, helps nonprofit leaders manage their organizations and encourages board members to realize their potential as volunteers in the fundraising process. He frequently presents at conferences.

His list of clients includes Adventist Medical Center in Portland, Eastern Oregon University, Oregon Historical Society, Southwest Washington Medical Center and The Nature Conservancy.
